What is a Bio-Digester?

A DRDO designed, green toilet technology, where human waste (urine and faecal matter) gets converted to clear pathogen free water, co2 and methane bio-gas as end products. The process is carried out by bacteria in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic digestion) in a specially designed tank. The tank has an immobilization matrix for retaining higher microbial mass for survival in adverse conditions. With further treatment through a reedbed system, the water can be used for gardening and re-flushing.

Who needs a Bio-Digester?

Any person living in dwellings without sanitation facility. The bio-digester is also available for people living in private residential houses, resorts, cottages, who envision a clean and hygienic environment for themselves and the future generation.

The better alternative to septic tanks

Bio-digester utilizes an anaerobic process in which bacteria feed upon the faecal matter inside the tank and finally degrades the matter.
